Joy is a simple word with three just letters. Joy rolls off the tongue easy. Joy -- a simple three letter word -- complex in the human spirit.
Today, I am struck by joy in the way it manifests itself in my husband, Eric. Biking brings incredible unbridled joy and passion to Eric. I am in awe of the relentless joy he gets from every aspect of his bike and the act of biking. The moment he clips into his pedals and sits on the tiny, titanium seat of his mountian bike there is a pureness of his expression and his spirit radiating out of him. The tenacity in which he sprints up the Smith Bridge over and over and when he is racing up mountain hills. The brightness in his brown eyes when he is talking to a fellow mountian biker or watching fellow mountain biker on video or in pictures. The intensity of his focus in finding the best and lightest bike parts and his true joy in just staring at them.
Eric's biking joy is infectious and is true in the truest sense of the simple word joy. Below is Eric's new SURLY commuter bike. What is special and brings true Joy to Eric about this bike is this custom made wheel by another joyous biker. The spokes are custom welded and I like the green color around the rim. The tire is also very fat, which, according to Eric is another source of joy.
